Maria Dennison, Regional Director

Maria joined the Kansas Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in January of 2018 as the Regional Director and is responsible for implementing a region-wide strategic business assistance program providing one-on-one business consulting, diverse business and training seminars, and advocacy on behalf of the small business sector in twenty-two southwest Kansas counties. Before joining the SBDC, Maria worked in Human Resources in the construction industry where she was responsible for benefits administration, risk and policy management, and IFTA/IRP audits. Prior to this, Maria was President/Publisher of Ashleigh Publishing Group, a journal and book publisher, and she previously held leading newspaper circulation and human resource roles with Media News Group, Knight-Ridder, and Mirage Resorts Inc.

Ashley Still, Business Advisor

Ashley Still, a native of Dodge City, started her role as Business Advisor for the Kansas Small Business Development Center in January of 2021. Of the 22 counties in our region, Ashley works most closely with Clark, Comanche, Edwards, Ford, Hodgeman, Kiowa, and Ness. She received her bachelor's degree in English at Kansas State University and her master's in education from Fort Hays State University. Prior to the SBDC, Ashley worked in benefits and customer service for a large insurance company. In her free time, Ashley enjoys planning her next vacation, playing fantasy football, watching musical theater, and spending time with her family. What Ashley loves most about working with the SBDC is helping entrepreneurs realize their goals of starting or expanding their business in Southwest Kansas; she does this through one-on-one counseling and assistance including business and financial planning, marketing, and management.


Magdalena Rivera, Business Specialist

Magdalena joined the Kansas Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in February 2022. She received her bachelor's in General Studies with a concentration in General Business at Forth Hays State University. Magda is responsible for organizing the office and helps keep the necessary paperwork done. She coordinates all SBDC trainings with our SW region network of partners and preserves training materials. She maintains broad knowledge about company business procedures and ensures the integrity and consistency in the business workflow. Magda's main focus lies in writing and formatting business plans. She is always ready to help regardless of the challenges. She loves engaging the youth and getting them excited for entrepreneurship.
