Seward County Community College is a two-year institution offering 45 programs of study, including Adult Basic Education, certificate programs and Associate of Arts, Science, General Studies and Applied Sciences degrees. Ranked in the top 5% of more than 1,100 accredited community colleges in the U.S.  by the Aspen Institute, SCCC serves a student body of 2,500+ students ranging in age from 15 to 85, in a county with the highest foreign-born percentage population in the U.S., and a rural service area of about 50,997 in seven Southwest Kansas counties as well as neighboring counties in southeastern Colorado, the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles.


The Assistant Director reports to the Chief Development Officer to provide administrative level support and direction to development and alumni operations. The role includes key bookkeeping, record-keeping duties, maintaining financial and CRM software, community engagement, donor relations, and business development activities. This includes both an internal and external focus. The Assistant Director works with campus and community partners to provide critical coordination of the Development Office goals and objectives as well as advancing the College's strategic goals and mission.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain Development Foundation bookkeeping and other duties including but not limited to: a. Code and post deposits, expenditures, and investment income b. Prepare monthly financial reports c. Interpret investment reports and maintain investment records d. Prepare worksheets for distributing income and expenses e. Verify scholarship billing f. Make deposits and pay invoices g. Take office meeting minutes and send meeting notices h. Ensure all required filings are completed in timely fashion (Kansas Annual filing, IRS Form 990, etc.) i. Provide necessary financial data for and assist the Development Office team in preparing annual foundation meeting and the Annual Report.
  • Work in concert with fellow Development office personnel to effectively execute stewardship activities designed to enhance the relationship between donors and the college.
  • Perform various operational tasks within the office. These duties include filing, copying, telephone, correspondence, processing incoming and outgoing mail, and managing office supplies, processing and maintaining essential records for purchase requisitions and travel/ facilities scheduling, and maintain calendars.
  • Work in the area of business development in collaboration with Business & Industry, Seward County Development Corporation, and SCCC Foundation as well as other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with Development Foundation Auction including recording and processing:

a. donations in database

b. preparing bid sheets, sort cards, certificates, guest list

c. assistance with setup/tear down of event may also be required

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publication; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.



A bachelor's degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business, accounting or trade school. Master's degree preferred.  Three to five years of executive and accounting experience
