Seward County Community College is a two-year institution offering 45 programs of study, including Adult Basic Education, certificate programs and Associate of Arts, Science, General Studies and Applied Sciences degrees. Ranked in the top 5% of more than 1,100 accredited community colleges in the U.S.  by the Aspen Institute, SCCC serves a student body of 2,500+ students ranging in age from 15 to 85, in a county with the highest foreign-born percentage population in the U.S., and a rural service area of about 50,997 in seven Southwest Kansas counties as well as neighboring counties in southeastern Colorado, the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles.

Responsibilities

Position provides assistance to students by guiding them through the financial aid processes, from inquiry to the discernment of funds. Coordinates the overall scholarship program. Provides assistance to the Financial Aid Director in all aspects of the Financial Aid functions.

  • Coordinates the overall scholarship and tuition grant program, including management of Scholarship Manager software and coordination with SCCC Foundation.
  • Assists Director in the evaluation and revision of college financial aid policies and procedures. Works with Director on preparations for any external, state, or federal audit. Indirectly manages staff assigned to department when Director is unavailable.
  • Develop and implement ongoing programs and assistance to area high schools for FAFSA. Serve as an information resource on complex problems relating to policy interpretation, compliance requirements, and/or regulatory explanations pertaining to financial aid issues to campus.
  • Verifies financial aid reports with external constituents, such as KBOR. Assists with monthly reconciliation of federal financial aid verification/awarding. Monitors and updates online forms and scholarship forms as needed.
  • Represent the Director at meetings and events as needed. Manage the Financial Aid Office in the absence of the Director.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director.

 

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree is required. Two years to five years of similar or related experience.

Selection Process
