Seward County Community College is a two-year institution offering 45 programs of study, including Adult Basic Education, certificate programs and Associate of Arts, Science, General Studies and Applied Sciences degrees. Ranked in the top 5% of more than 1,100 accredited community colleges in the U.S.  by the Aspen Institute, SCCC serves a student body of 2,500+ students ranging in age from 15 to 85, in a county with the highest foreign-born percentage population in the U.S., and a rural service area of about 50,997 in seven Southwest Kansas counties as well as neighboring counties in southeastern Colorado, the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles.

Responsibilities

The Assistant Director will reside on campus and manage the residence halls as assigned. This position is responsible for providing leadership, management, and direction for a comprehensive residence life program and ensuring the college is providing housing that is safe and conducive to a positive learning environment.

  • Assist in the supervision and monitoring of the student housing facilities and grounds. Manage the other housing personnel and day to day operations of the RA staff.
  • Responsible for reporting and documenting incidents and or issues, as they arise. Promote the safety and security of students by conducting building evacuations, health and safety searches, and conducting safety trainings for students.
  • To create a residential community that enhances the students' academic, developmental and personal lives. Encourages student participation in resident hall activities and college-sponsored events, clubs, and organizations.
  • To create and assign community service projects for students, as needed. Partner with community agencies that could benefit from community service opportunities for our students. Track student hours and events for specific Student Learning Outcomes.
  •  Provide assistance to students in conflict management, time management and life learning issues.
  • Must be sensitive to the attitudes of all students regardless of race, ethnicity, age, gender, political views, etc. Diversity is what makes SCCC a richer, more developed community.

 

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree is required. Six months to two years of practical experience in college housing (i.e., resident assistant or management) and/or supervisory experience in related educational field.  

Salary/Benefits

Competitive salary. Room and Board are included in the compensation. Salary Range:  Salary commensurate with education and experience.

Selection Process
