The Cosmetology instructor will engage in a variety of learning support and instruction/training practices in the field of Cosmetology. Responsibilities include preparation, conducting beautician courses as assigned. This includes but is not limited to developing lessons and facilitating student learning in a salon setting, supervise students' progress, track supplies inventory, and share knowledge of new techniques. Teaching assignments may include safety, hair cutting, hair coloring and styling, hair and scalp treatment, sanitation, skin and nail care, chemicals relaxing, permanent waving, hair tinting and bleaching, salon experience and preparing students for state licensing exams. A minimum of 40 hours weekly is require.
Seward County Community College serves as an important link to higher education in the remote corner of Southwest Kansas, serving a student population of which around 70% is first int their families to attend college. More than half identified as Hispanic. We draw students from a five-state service area. The success full candidate must be acculturated to the community and demographic flavors of the rural Midwest.
Cosmetology Certificate required. Associate degree or above preferred. Current Kansas Cosmetology License and Kansas Cosmetology Instructor's License required. Six to two years as a cosmetologist experience required. Teaching experience, good communications, and record-keeping skills a plus.
