Responsibilities

The KSBDC Program increases economic prosperity in Kansas by providing free consultation services and affordable training to entrepreneurs and small business owners. The Consultant plays a key role in this effort by providing expert consulting and training to current and prospective business owners in a 22-county region of southwest Kansas, focusing primarily in the Dodge City and Liberal Center coverage area. 

Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor's degree in Business or related field required. Master's degree and certifications preferred. Educational disciplines may include: Business Communications, Finance, Counseling, Marketing, Economic Development, Business Management, Consulting, Administration, or Accounting. Certifications preferred may include: CEVA, CEPA, SHRM, CPA, Financial Advising Certifications, or Insurance Certification.

Experience: Five years to ten years of experience in the areas of business managements, consulting, administration, accounting, marketing, economic development, or entrepreneurship.

Essential Duties:

  • Provide individual consulting and assistance to clients in the areas of business planning, finance, marketing and management. Routinely travel withing the region. Visit client place of business as appropriate.
  • Establish and manage client information database and files. Perform research, surveys, and follow-up activities. Assist with administration, compliance and audit preparations.
  • Develop, coordinate and conduct training seminars targeting the needs of area small businesses. Establish and maintain strong connections with funding partners. Solicit support for KS Small Business Development Center programs leveraging funding and in-kind resources as appropriate.
  • Promote general awareness of the KS Small Business Development Center program by making presentations to area organization, arrange media coverage and by sponsoring or co-sponsoring programs, networking, and through involvement in local professional organizations.
  • Attend meetings, workshops, and conferences as required.

 

Salary/Benefits

Salary Range:  $ 41,000 to $ 46,000 Annually

Position Status:  Full-time, or Partime

Position Location: Primary office in Dodge City, KS with occasional travel to Liberal, KS offices
